Thanksgiving is one of the holidays that best represent the warm embrace of inclusiveness, sharing, and togetherness. With Thanksgiving being tomorrow, we would like to share this essay full of thankfulness with you. The essay is written by one of our students, Pashtana – despite of hardships in her life as a new immigrant, she is always thankful of people and things in her life.
“When I came to America in 2016 from Kabul, Afghanistan, I was in a new environment with a new language among new people. I really had trouble in all cases.
Thanks to my son, Ahmad, for helping me out. Thanks to the people and government of America. I am very happy that I am learning English so that I can solve my problems. I love to work outside of the home so language is very important.
In my country, I was a school teacher. I enjoyed this very much but cannot get a job in America until my English improves.”
At the same time, we are thankful to all our students, our partners, our donors, and volunteers for making everything possible. Have a great Thanksgiving! Please be informed that LCNV office will be closed on the Thanksgiving Day, November 28th.
