Fall 2020 Introduction from the Executive Director

Greetings,

Earlier this month, we completed our registration for the fall season via both online and in person channels. Amongst all the uncertainties brought to us by the pandemic, it is an inspiration to see the dedication, resilience, and the unyielding attitude shown by our learners, as well as a relief to know that we are able to provide them something that will help them to gain the improvements they seek to make the situation slightly better.

I would like to give thanks for the support, flexibility, and preparedness shown by our community during class registrations. The way LCNV staff set up the in-person registration with reinforced preventive measures and social distancing requirements, the patience potential learners showed when they signed up for their classes, and the warmth our volunteers showed towards our learners whenever they were confused or had any concerns – these are all valuable memories of this time. Now, we are looking forward to starting another virtual semester with you. Together, we are prepared for what comes next as we navigate through another season with the uncertainty of COVID-19.

Fall is the season of change as well as the season of harvesting. In this newsletter, we would like to share highlights with you including updates on our classes, a success story of one of our dedicated learners, Sajida, and fruitful discussions we have led in nationwide webinars and virtual engagements. We would also like to invite you to join a competition to name this newsletter- the one you are reading right now that is shared with more than 6,000 individuals who sincerely care about adult literacy in our community.

With the leaves changing colors in the coming months and schools reopening, we will keep searching for silver linings in all the changes we will endure, just like what we have in the past few months. Thank you for keeping us company on this journey!  LCNV wishes everyone a happy and healthy fall!

All the best,

Roopal
