Greetings,
I hope you are staying healthy during these times. For more than four months, we have been social distancing, only seeing each other virtually. Despite these obstacles, I am grateful to see that the LCNV community has been showing a lot of positivity and creativity as we adjust to this “new normal”. Our extended spring semester ended in June, with all classes successfully completing their planned curriculum. Some teachers incorporated “Fun Time” into their classes, where they practiced English while watching TV series, singing American folk songs, and chatting with each other. Our staff met every Friday afternoon not to talk about work, but to share stories, stay connected and make sure everyone is hanging in there. Moreover, while we could not celebrate our end of semester with potlucks, laughter, or hugs as usual, we created a series of videos and a photo album to express our heartfelt thanks and congratulations.
During this time, we want to remind you to practice selfcare, connect with others in safe ways, and stay strong. LCNV is committed to serving all learners as always in the ways we can, aligning with public safety requirements, as well as trying our best to lift up our community.
Our fall semester will be starting soon virtually, and we will provide basic English education to all who have a goal to improve their level of literacy, communicate better with their children, and be a more integral part of our community.
As eager as we are for everything to go back to normal so we can greet with each other with handshakes and hugs, we more desperately hope everyone in our community can stay safe and healthy during these times. For now, we look forward to meeting you and serving you virtually!
Best,
Roopal Mehta Saran,
Executive Director
