Dear Friends of the English Empowerment Center,
As we near the end of another year full of learning and growth, I want to pause and celebrate all that we have accomplished together and thank you for your investment in the English Empowerment Center’s mission. This year has been a testament to the strength of our learners, the dedication of our instructors, and the generosity of our community. Together, we have made a profound impact.
EEC classrooms are a place where adults learn, build confidence, and find a place of belonging. Our classes foster connection and are a space where diverse individuals come together, united by a shared goal of improving their lives through education. Many of our learners describe their time at EEC as transformative, not just because of the skills they gain, but because of the support they feel—from their peers, instructors, volunteers, and community partners. We are excited to see the tight-knit communities built in our classrooms as learners share their diverse perspectives, rich cultural traditions, and a shared determination to build a brighter future for everyone.
This year, over 2,200 learners have improved their English proficiency, opened doors to new opportunities, and taken meaningful steps toward achieving their personal and professional goals. We’ve continued to expand our in-person class offerings to reach more individuals. This year we hosted classes at multiple new class sites including Culmore United Methodist in Falls Church, Charles Drew Community Center in Arlington, and a speaking class at Mary Riley Styles Library in Falls Church.
There is still so much more to be done; we have seen a 30% increase in the need for services as demand continues to grow. We want to ensure that every individual who seeks our help can access the resources they need to thrive. We cannot do this without you and every contribution makes a difference. It’s not just a gift; it’s an investment in our community and in the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.
