In celebration of Adult Education and Family Literacy Week, EEC shared student essay highlights to our social media. This was a great opportunity to share the voices of English language learners in our community and celebrate their dedication to empowering themselves through education. See the essay highlights!

 

Workforce Development Rising Star Nominee: We’re proud to share that we nominated Juan Perez, Student Services Coordinator, for the Rising Star Award in the inaugural Virginia Talent Awards. Juan’s work on the Career and Opportunities Fair and student advising services truly embody the spirit of innovation, dedication, and growth that this award celebrates. Thank you, Juan, for all you bring to our team!

 

Staff member Kasia and teacher Vaishali Deshpande contributed to a new reading skills curriculum that includes 23 adaptable intermediate-level lessons focused on developing the following reading skills: use questions to understand key details; determine the main idea and key details; describe how information in a text is related; identify author’s purpose.

 

Adult education programs across Virginia have helped adult learners earn over 3,000 industry-recognized credentials in 2023-2025! During that same timespan, we helped 64 learners earn a credential in Accommodations & Food Service.
